Every website is unique and will take a varying amount of time to complete depending upon the complexity of the site. If you have a deadline I will endeavor to meet this for you but if the timescale is unrealistic I will inform you of this before work begins. Provided I have all content and images for the website the project should proceed quickly and efficiently.
This is entirely up to you; a meeting is often not necessary as long as there is adequate information on what you require. You will receive a static layout of your web design at an early stage in the project and changes made if needed; the body of the work will then be undertaken.
Yes. I will be on hand to answer any questions free of charge. In the event of any errors or problems which arise through a fault of my own these will be fixed free of charge. If you require additional updates or sections added to the website these will be quoted for before work begins.

It is very helpful if you can supply text in an electronic format such as Microsoft word, or simply just as text in an email. Hand written text takes time to retype and therefore would increase costs incurred. Images ideally should be supplied as high quality JPG files. If you have photographs to supply as JPG please supply them as large as you have them so I have the full quality image to work with. Video – for large videos please either upload to youtube/vimeo for inclusion on your website or post the video to me on CD/DVD. For small videos feel free to use email.
At Colourjam I have designed my own bespoke content management system. If you need a content management system for your website you will receive a private link once your website is complete. This link will load a website with a login form, once you have logged in you will see many options for updating your website.
Yes - and I will offer an additional 10% discount - Please view the price match page.
I can offer training if you wish but I’m confident you will find my content management system so easy to use that you should not need training.
Yes – all websites I create are made with search engines in mind and comply with search engine guidelines.
While no-one can guarantee your website will appear at the very top in search engines, you should receive a favourable position in search engines such as Google.
Google will naturally find your site once it is live, but I will also submit your website to Google and other search engines for inclusion. Your website will also be added to various “web master tools” with search engines along with XML sitemaps.
Web hosting is basically renting some space on a server connected to the internet that has a fast connection. When someone visits your website they visit this web server to download your website files to view them. Email can also be used with your web hosting package. Read more about web hosting with Colourjam here.
There are two main running costs, web hosting and domain name renewal.
Web hosting – my entry level charge for this is £60.
Domain name renewal – your website domain name ie yourwebsite.co.uk needs to be renewed every year or every couple of years. This usually costs between £10-30.
Yes, as long as your domain registrar gives the option to update nameservers this is fine.
This is possible but changes things slightly:
Yes, you will still own the domain but I can take care of the technical side for you. If you wish to transfer the domain name away from me in future this is also fine.
No, when I send a quote you will receive a price for the design and development of the website, and a price for web hosting. These are fixed prices and will only change if you change the scope of the project. You would be informed first if there was to be any changes to the initial quote.
This is likely if you need to use my content management system and require a website that has a lot of dynamic data that you need to update often. For example if you will be adding many products to a website these will be stored in a database in your web hosting package. There is no additional cost for using a database with your website.
Your website visitors will see things slightly differently depending on their browser, monitor size and screen resolution.
There are many different browsers available, I will check your website works correctly in all of the most popular browsers.
All of my websites are designed to be viewed on a minimum screen resolution of 1024x768 which should be viewable by most people.
I occasionally use flash on websites, but not for entire websites anymore. 100% flash websites rank terribly in search engines. Flash can still be nice to use in some instances but for transition effects etc I now use JQuery.
This all depends on your requirements; my current price range is between £300 and £3000. If you get in touch for a quote I will give you a solid fixed price for the project.
As many as you like, and if you have the content management system you can add more yourself.
This all depends on the existing agreement with your current web designer. I am happy to quote for updating it for you.
No, you are in complete control of what appears on your website.
You will always receive a static visual of how your website could look before the main body of the work begins. This is your change to give feedback on the design, make any changes or ask for an entirely new design. If you have agreed upon a design and I have coded the website then charges will be incurred to go back and start again from the beginning.
Your images must be obtained through legal means, you cannot include images you have found will searching on Google or from a website.
You can get free images here: Stock.Xchng there are also various paid solutions such as IStockPhoto.
You will be required to sign a release form on completion of your website to say you have permission to use the images you have selected.
I have a release form that must be completed to protect myself from copyright infringement and plagiarism, this must be signed before your website goes live. I also have a terms and conditions agreement that must be read before commencement of the project, continuing to give instructions to me after this you will have deemed the terms acceptable.
