About Colourjam Web Design

Colourjam is a Web & Print design company established by myself Chris Thornton at the start of 2004. I am a sole trader, specialising in front end design and back end systems for websites.

I completed my Computing degree at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen in 2003 and started looking for a job in website design. I soon found myself stuck in the trap of being unable to get a job without experience and couldn’t get experience without a job. It was most disheartening. I researched the quality of work other web design companies were producing and I felt I could do better myself so in June 2004 I started my own business and called it Colourjam.

The first website I made was - the 'Highland Ultimate Bands List' (now sadly obsolete due to lack of time). Its launch was featured in the Northern Scot newspaper. Readers of the article were impressed with the website and soon offers of web design work were coming in. Since then the business has gone from strength to strength, and I have to say it’s my ideal job! I work from home in my office located in the quiet hamlet of Arradoul just outside Buckie. I am approachable and flexible and I will often work deals with clients to best fit available budgets and special requirements, particularly new startup businesses. Occasionally, I carry out work for charitable organisations free of charge.

Most of the time I can design the look of a project without taking payment so you can see the possible result of the final project… at this point you would be free to try another company if you weren’t keen on any aspect of the design with no strings attached. Only when the project is finalised would you be expected to pay for the project in its entirety.

To help span the costs of any work required I can also work a deal where you pay for 50% of your project on completion and the remaining 50% at a later agreed date. I’m here to work with you to get the best final product, for the best price, timescale, and quality.
