About Colourjam
Crafting bespoke digital experiences from the heart of Moray, Scotland.

A web developer & designer who believes in doing things properly
I started Colourjam in 2004 after graduating from Robert Gordon University. My first project was HUBL - the Highland Ultimate Bands List. People started asking if I did websites, and I began building projects from there.
The name Colourjam came from my love of music. My band would "jam" together, and I saw web design as a similar creative process - jamming with colours, layouts and ideas. So the name Colourjam was born.
With over two decades of experience, I've had the privilege of working with businesses across Scotland and beyond. From local florists to heritage sites, event companies to professional services - each project has reinforced my commitment to quality, bespoke solutions.
When you work with me, you're not handed off to a junior or lost in a queue. I handle every aspect of your project personally, from the initial concept through to launch and ongoing support. This means clear communication, consistent quality, and someone who genuinely understands your project.
Currently, I live near Buckie with my wife and three daughters.
My Approach
Results-Focused
Every decision is made with your business goals in mind. A beautiful website means nothing if it doesn't convert visitors into customers.
Clear Communication
No jargon, no disappearing acts. I keep you informed at every stage and explain things in plain English.
Fast Turnaround
I respect your time and deadlines. Projects are delivered on schedule without sacrificing quality.
Ongoing Support
The relationship doesn't end at launch. I'm here for updates, changes, and technical support whenever you need it.
No Templates
Every website I build is custom-coded from scratch. You get a unique site that's fast, secure, and built exactly for your needs.
Data-Driven
Decisions are backed by analytics and best practices, not guesswork. I measure what matters and optimise for real results.
How Colourjam Came to Be
From a university project to over two decades of professional web development -— here's the journey.
The Beginning
Graduated from Robert Gordon University and launched my first project - HUBL, the Highland Ultimate Bands List. Word spread, and people started asking if I could build websites for them.
Colourjam is Born
The name came from my love of music. My band would "jam" together, and I saw web design as a similar creative process - jamming with colours and ideas. Colourjam was born with help from the Prince's Trust and Moray Badenoch Strathspey Enterprise. Initial clients included Springfield Properties and Baxters of Speyside.
Growing the Business
Built a reputation for quality, bespoke web solutions. Expanded into SEO and digital marketing as the industry evolved.
Live Breathe Scotland
I launched my Scottish Tourism website and used all of my skills in content marketing to make it a success. It currently receives 50,000 visitors per month.
Two Decades Strong
Now with 200+ projects under my belt, I continue to focus on what I do best - creating custom websites that genuinely help businesses succeed online.
Why "Colourjam"?
The name came from my love of music. My band would get together and "jam" - improvising, bouncing ideas off each other, creating something in the moment.
I saw web design the same way - jamming with colours, layouts and ideas until everything clicks into place. Every website is a creative collaboration, blending design, functionality and strategy into something that works.
Plus, I just liked how it sounded.
