Hello, I’m Chris.
I’m the web designer and developer behind Colourjam. I live near Buckie with my wife and three daughters, and I’ve been building websites for Moray businesses since 2004.
When you work with me, you’re not handed off to a junior or lost in a queue. I handle every part of your project myself, from the first chat to launch day and the years after it.
How Colourjam started
I graduated from Robert Gordon University in 2003. My first project was HUBL, the Highland Ultimate Bands List, and people started asking if I did websites for them too.
In 2004 I started Colourjam properly, with help from the Prince’s Trust and Moray Badenoch and Strathspey Enterprise. Early clients included Springfield Properties and Baxters of Speyside.
The name came from my band, The Method, where I played guitar and sang. We’d get together and jam, bouncing ideas off each other until something clicked, and I’ve always seen web design the same way: jamming with colours, layouts and ideas until everything works. Plus, I just liked how it sounded.
Twenty-odd years on
I’ve built 200+ websites and projects since then, for trades, shops, charities, schools, heritage sites and businesses right across Moray. Along the way I added SEO and content work, because a website nobody finds isn’t much use.
In 2023 I started my own Scottish travel site, Live Breathe Scotland, and used everything I know about content and search to grow it. It now gets around 50,000 visitors a month.
Some of my clients have been with me for a very long time. That matters more to me than anything else.
